Acrylic on Canvas
20″ x 16″
This artwork examines the fragmentation of my mind and sense of personality as I’ve changed over time, from childhood to adolescence to adulthood. Referencing “Tangle” by Jeff Huntington and the “AgeMaps” series by Bobby Neel Adams, it also explores the fading of memories as they age. When I remember recent events, they are fresh and full of colour, like green leaves. But as time passes, my memories become dull and wither away until they seem like stories of another person altogether. Nonetheless, my past is what makes me who I am today, and so I look to the future, wondering what memories I might be creating tomorrow.
This artwork was completed in 2016 for my Masters, and is on exhibition at Mosman Art Gallery From Feb 11 – Mar 5, 2017.
